Tax Season 2026 Is Here! Here is your tax form check list 📝

Whether you're a W-2 employee, self-employed, a small business owner, or a crypto investor, having the right paperwork is the secret to a smooth and stress-free filing experience.

For Tax Year 2025 (filing in 2026), there are a few key changes to be aware of. Here is your updated guide and handy checklist to ensure you have everything you need.

🆕 What’s New for Tax Year 2025?

Before you start gathering documents, keep these new updates in mind:

  • Higher Standard Deductions: Due to inflation adjustments, the standard deduction has increased again. It is now roughly $15,000 for singles and $30,000 for married couples filing jointly.

  • "Super Catch-Up" Contributions: If you were aged 60, 61, 62, or 63 by the end of 2025, the Secure 2.0 Act allows for a higher "super catch-up" contribution to your 401(k) or 403(b)—up to $11,250 (check your plan details!).

  • Green Energy Credits Reset: The Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (for windows, doors, insulation, etc.) has an annual limit of $1,200 (or $2,000 for heat pumps) that resets every year. If you made upgrades in 2025, gather those receipts!

  • Stricter 1099-K Reporting: The IRS has continued to lower the threshold for reporting income from apps like Venmo, PayPal, and eBay. If you sold goods or services, watch your email for these forms.
